Day 1 Athens
Tonight we met our Tour Manager (Gimpy named from the town in Queensland that he grew up in). He is one of a
kind, totally hilarious and really made our trip.
We met the other people we would be spending the next 2 weeks with. The group was made up of mostly Aussies, Americans and Canadians. Amazingly, no Kiwis!
One of the first things we learned was that nowhere on the Islands can you flush toilet paper. There are
bins that you have to leave your toilet paper in as their plumbing systems are not up to taking them,
this was a hard habit to break.
We saw literally dozens and dozens of cats in Greece, mainly in Athens. That explains all the Cats in
Greece Calendars that you see everywhere there!
We went out for dinner tonight to a rooftop Greek Restaurant where we had an amazing view of the
Acropolis etc. After everyone had taken their pictures of the fabulous view, we all took it in turns to squeeze into the
tiny little lift - never seen a lift quite as small as this!
Then it was off to a bar for our first drinking night with our new friends, hitting the dance floor and downing a few cocktails.
